Classes for every age!
At Folsom Family Taekwondo, we believe that Taekwondo is for every age and ability. Whether you have a Tiny Tiger, Super Champ Kid, or are yourself interested in Taekwondo, there is never a better time to start. Below is a full range of classes we offer on an ongoing basis. Check us out!
Tiny Tigers - Ages 3-5
Our Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool and school age children ages 3-5. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addiiton, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions.
All classes are taught by Certified Instructors using the most safe, fun and exciting instruction methods available for children this age! This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and value systems as well as Taekwondo techniques.
If you are considering Taekwondo for a child this age, we invite you to come to our school and watch our Tiny Tigers work out or have your child or children sign up for a trial period.
There is always someone available during school hours who can answer your questions. Our studio opens Mon-Thursday at 4:00, Friday at 4:45 and Saturday at 10:00.
Kids - Ages 6-12
Our kids program is a structured, yet fun environment, that teaches Taekwondo techniques to kids while instilling those all too important character traits found in the tenets of Taekwondo; Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and the Indomitable Spirit. Our class schedule is structured to give the student multiple opportunities to come to class and improve on their Taekwondo techniques. We highly recommend kids attend class 2-3 times per week. We also recommend they attend class on consistent days and times to create good training habits.
We offer specific color and Black Belt classes which we call Core classes. These classes run in 8 week cycles. During the 8 week cycle the student will work specifically on the materials for their belt level. We also offer All Belt classes which are designed to help them work on areas where they feel they need extra help, or to get in an extra workout. At the end of the 8 week cycle each student is tested on the Taekwondo techniques specific to their belt level, and if they pass they are promoted to the next belt level.
Students who come consistently and train hard, typically progress from their white belt to their black belt in about 30 months. If you have any questions regarding our kids program, please contact our studio which opens Mon-Thurs at 4:00, Friday at 4:45 and Saturday at 10:00 a.m.. To see when classes are scheduled, please see the SCHEDULE section of our website.
Teens- Ages 13 - 17
At Folsom Family Taekwondo we offer classes for teens through adults. Whether you want to learn Taekwondo for self defense, exercise, competition, or for recreational purposes our adult program is for everyone. As each individual journeys through their own Taekwondo experience they will see their bodies transform mentally and physically!
Taekwondo not only gives you the confidence of knowing that you are equipped with essential self defense skills needed to protect yourself and others, but it will also give you great satisfaction as you watch your body transform! Taekwondo will give you more energy, help you with weight loss, improve your flexibility and give you a confidence you didn't have before. Taekwondo can also be helpful to students who are athletes in other sports as it increases agility, speed and awareness of your strengths and weaknesses that can be improved with training.
We offer classes appropriate for men and women. Each adult will cycle through an 8 week course and will be tested at the end of the 8 week cycle on the techniques specific to their belt requirements. Upon passing the testing requirements, the student will move on to the next belt level. Most students can achieve their Black Belt in about 30 months.
Once you have achieved your Black Belt, your status is recognized here in the United States as well as internationally through the Korean Kukkiwon.

Adults- Ages 18 and Up
At Folsom Taekwondo we recognize the difference in child vs. adult learning. Our adult classes are geared toward adults learning needs. We focus on perfection and understanding of the use of technique with adults. Having a deeper understanding for the “how” and “why” provides a practical application training environment that is appreciated by the adult. Honing your skills for self-defense purposes is important to the adult. Training and understanding that patterned learning of our forms or poomsae for fitness and memory purposes as well as appreciating the meditative aspects of poomsae training is also different in adult class. Fitness, getting in shape and feeling better about yourself is also very much a part of the adult experience. Our classes for adults are taught different than that of the child and teen classes. Taekwondo should be considered a life-long training environment for adults. Our goal in the adult class is to provide a traditional journey focused on body-fitness, mind-keeping sharp and spirit-meditation and inner strength. Come join the journey and change your life!

W.I.S.E! Women's Self Defense Class
Classes are FUN, INFORMATIVE, and EMPOWERING! We love to teach groups, so pull your friends together and learn some serious self defense skills together! This class is taught by women, for women!
Classes are $25.00 per person. CALL FOR OUR NEXT CLASS DATE!
Why Learn Self Defense?
In today's world, crime is on the rise and the need for one to be able to defend themselves, and potentially others, has become increasingly more important! Statistics turn grim when you study the rate of crimes against women!
No one asks for, causes, invites or deserves to be assaulted and that is why we have created this course. Our course has been designed to empower women to be aware, assertive, safe and to have strategies that would help them successfully escape, and survive a violent attack.
Who Should sign up?
Any women Jr. High age and upward! Our course is appropriately geared towards the age range of each class we teach. This way, you never need to worry about us covering topics that could be potentially uncomfortable to younger, less mature audiences. Just let us know the age range of the people attending (Jr. High, High School, Adults, Mixed Group, Mothers/Daughters) and we will take it from there!
How Many Can Attend?
We ask that when possible the class not exceed 20 students. A smaller learning environment helps us ensure that the scenarios we teach are well understood.
What Should I Wear?
Come comfortable! Workout or Yoga attire is suggested. Yoga pants/tops, sweat pants/t-shirt. If we are at your location, tennis shoes are acceptable. If you will be at our location at Folsom Taekwondo Center, you will be asked to remove your shoes to protect our soft mats. Please leave jewelry at home.
